Honda is on the verge of launching a small car in India. The car might be called Honda Brio and will be priced under 5-lakh rupees. The vehicle in its concept form was showcased at the Auto Expo in Delhi this year.
To project this car to people of India, Honda is on the lookout for a creative agency. It is understood that McCann Worldwide, Grey Worldwide, Ogilvy & Mather, Contract, and Dentsu India are the shortlisted companies to whom details regarding the positioning of the car has been divulged.
Currently Ogilvy & Mather’s Meridian Communications is handling the Jazz, while the other Honda cars are being handled by Dentsu India.
Honda’s small car will be shown at the Thailand Motor Show on the 30th of this month.
This is our interpretation of Honda’s small car which will be exhibited at the show next month
Honda in a press release issued today said it will display the small car concept at the Auto Expo in Delhi next month. The small car, termed by many as “mini Jazz” will be manufactured in India and positioned under the Jazz. There are also rumors floating around that the hatchback (code: 2CV) will use a 1.1-liter petrol engine and roll out by 2011, though we have no confirmations on the displacement.
Apart from the aforementioned exhibits, the Japanese company will display the famous ASIMO humanoid robot and the CR-Z hybrid concept car to the show.
Honda will also display the existing line-up of cars at the show.

Honda’s global compact car expected to make a debut by 2011 will be positioned below the existing entry-level car, the Honda Jazz. Now, reports have made this fact concrete – India will give rise to Honda’s new small car.
India was the obvious choice for Honda because of its market volume and the availability and logistical ease of raw materials like steel and plastic.
Moreover, Honda has a great run in the two-wheeler business in India. Hero Honda and Honda motorcycle & scooter have a combined market share of over 70 percent. Honda is comfortable with the Indian market being stable compared to the rest of the world.

It is true! Honda’s city car rivaling the Toyota iQ and Smart Fortwo is a smaller version of the proven Honda Jazz.
Honda’s mini car dreams have got us dreaming. Honda, I think is emulating the Honda City’s strategy meaning a smaller version of the flagship car. In the mini car’s case it is the Jazz with the guiding light.
The mini Jazz could go on sale as early as 2011 reports say, which is very unlikely considering the high level of work required to bring out a car. It could take a year longer than that, but then this is Honda, and they are capable of anything.

We always knew that an all-new Honda small car was in the works. We thought that the new car would be boxy like the 600cc Honda Zest sold in Japan.
Now, it appears that Honda is working on a super compact car for the US market also. A car that would compete with the Smart and Toyota iQ/Scion.
So we ask ‘Will the new small car that is to come to India, look similar to this?’ Well, it has every chance to be!
We do not have much information about the engine specs and the seating configurations (2-door 2 seater/ 2 door 4-seater/ 4-door 4 seater)
But we know that, the new Honda small car will have an intense level of localization which will help bring the cost down.
Honda could use its Rajasthan facility which is currently work in progress to produce upto 250,000 units per annum when fully functional.
