Ford Figo DashboardJust like the sales of new cars, used cars sales are also on the rise. Many players such as Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai and even Mercedes India have a dedicated channel though which they sell used cars. It contributes to a substantial portion of their revenues.

Looking at the rising demand, Ford has also entered the used car business with the brand – Ford Assured. This will be a multi-brand sales outlet which means that you can buy pre-owned car from various brands (not only Ford).

You can be assured that they are in top notch condition because Ford is going to recondition all cars in its inventory by Ford trained and experienced technicians. You also get a one year warranty on all cars purchased through Ford Assured.

Official – Something happening at Ford India on April 14

new Ford Fiesta sedan ChinaAfter announcing the launch of the Fiesta Classic on the 7th of April, Ford India now says it has more information to share on the 14th of April in Delhi. We can’t think of anything else other than the revealing of the new Fiesta sedan.

Ford hosted a similar event for the Figo where they invited select members of the media six months before the market launch to witness the unveiling by Alan Mullaly, CEO of Ford Motor Company. We’re expecting a special guest at the Fiesta’s launch as well.

If it isn’t the new Fiesta sedan launch, it has to be the 1.6-liter, 101bhp Figo.

Ford plans a plant in Gujarat?

Ford Start Concept

Riding on the wave of the Figo, it seems that the Chennai plant is becoming too small for Ford. Rumors are that the Big Oval is planning a second plant in Gujarat. Of course, we saw this one coming after all recently Ford announced that it will launch eight new models for India by 2015. They obviously need a place to make those ;-)

Let’s also not forget Chinese car maker Changan’s interest of selling its portfolio of vehicles here in India using Ford’s assistance.

According to sources, representatives from financial organizations that represent Ford have visited senior Gujarat government officials and they were a suggested a site near Sanand, near the Tata Nano Factory. This is beneficial for Ford in multiple ways

1. Ford can now de-risk the business by decentralizing the production
2. They can cater to the northern and western markets much faster
3. The Vendors are already present in Sanand catering to Tata
4. This also protects them from any labor union crisis
5. Gujarat is the next auto hub after Chennai and Pune and major players like Tata and GM already present in the state
6. We heard of a massive port coming up in Simar which can take care of exporting models

It seems that Ford has indicated huge investment plans in the region and if everything goes well, the company is just two to three months away from finalizing things.

Ford Figo surpasses Indica as India’s 5th best selling car

Ford Figo top 5 best selling cars india

Ford India is having a great time in the Indian market with the astounding success its small car offering, Figo. The Ford Figo’s sales have been growing steadily since the day it was launched and now the hatchback has replaced Tata Indica as the 5th largest selling car in India.

The Figo has put Ford India in the ‘Top 5′ for the first time in India. These are signs of good times ahead for Ford. The Tata Indica which has been within the ‘Top 5′ regularly for the last ten years has been (finally) beaten by Ford’s new entrant.

Nigel Wark, Executive Director (Marketing, Sales & Service), Ford India -

Our object was to go after providing a high value for money product in the marketplace and that has grown Ford’s reputation here. Figo was a big step as it helped Ford Motor Co. to get away from the niche to the mainstream segment. We are not complacent (after getting in to the top five), we will seize this opportunity by continuing to boost dealerships and increase service network.

Ford India is not likely to rest with the success of the Figo and is planning to get even more aggressive in India. The American car manufacturer is planning to launch 8 new models in the next 5 years and would be rapidly expanding its dealer and service network.
