Rendering – Chevrolet’s new Aveo for India

President and Managing Director of Indiia, Mr.Karl Slym told IAB that next year, GM will bring this hatchback to India under a different name. Like the path followed with the Chevrolet Beat, which essentially is a Spark replacement in Europe, the Chevrolet Aveo replacement which is the T-Series offering of the 300 platform you see here will be sold alongside in India.

We don’t know anything about the engine options. Possibly the 1.2-liter engine offered on the Beat could be tuned for slightly more power/torque and placed under the bonnet of the entry-level model. Interior spy shots of the next generation Aveo revealed the presence of automatic transmission and steering column mounted instrument cluster.

The rear door handle, like on the Chevrolet Beat, is hidden away in the C-Pillar. Ed Welburn, Global design chief of GM disclosed to us that the new range of models would share components to reduce input costs. We have to wait and see which these components are.

Spied – Next generation Chevrolet Aveo in China

New Chevrolet Aveo China - 1

The next generation Chevrolet Aveo was caught testing in China wearing none of that protective clothing. For our new readers, we have already posted a spy shot and artist rendering of the next generation Aveo before.

Product specifications have not leaked past the walls of GM China HQ. An assortment of petrol and diesel engines is a safe bet.

Who knows? After the tie-up between REVA and GM India, there could even be a electric version of this vehicle. It’s all a possibility.

No one from the Indian wing of GM have spoken of the next generation Aveo and going by the silence, this car is not coming to India in the near future. We’ve already begun our investigation, so expect something on the Aveo soon here on IAB.

Chevrolet Aveo gets new jewels in the U.K

Chevrolet-Aveo-U.K-1Chevrolet-Aveo-U.K-2

GM has launched a new styling package for the Chevrolet Aveo in the UK. This pack is applicable only for the 3-door model, but as we have seen in the past, only a matter of time before the 5-door gets the same creaming.

The styling pack consists of front and rear spoilers, side skirts, floor mats, chrome exhaust tailpipe and skid plates and chrome-effect door handles and interior air vents. Metallic paint is also included.

Cool or uncool?

A fool with a tool is still a fool; Aveo bank robbers lock car with key inside

The old adage is very fitting in this situation – A fool with a tool is still a fool.

The Chevrolet Aveo hatchback (U-VA in India) is an intelligent car. OK, you don’t get a lot of power or wheelspin. You get a basic hatchback with a lot of space and rear legroom. In short, this car fits the bill perfectly if you and your pals are seeking a getaway vehicle after committing a bank robbery.

Our good friend John over at the car connection lays the rest out in a perfect manner -

But if you’re going to use it (Aveo) for a getaway, hang onto your car keys after you rob that bank.

Neglecting that handy hint landed a gang of four robbers in the clink in the town of Bear, Delaware, yesterday, after one of them locked the keys to his Chevrolet Aveo in the bank they had just robbed.

Three men wearing wigs, along with one woman, entered the Artisans Bank yesterday morning just after 9 am. They fired a shot into the ceiling, tied up two employees with duct tape, and herded six others into a bathroom.

After forcing an employee to get money from the vault and teller drawers, they fled–leaving the car keys inside. Once they realized they couldn’t get back inside, the female getaway driver pulled up in a Ford Escort and sped them away.

The police soon after tracked down the Ford Escort and arrested the convicts. Now they all are going to have a certain reunion sparked by a show stealing act. In jail.

Moral one of the story – Don’t rob a bank

Moral two of the storyDon’t use an Aveo Don’t forget the keys in the car

Moral three of the story – An old Ford Escort is much slower than the modern day state-of-the-art police vehicle

Chevrolet Agile not to replace Aveo stateside; next generation Aveo is a different model

Chevrolet Agile not to replace Aveo stateside; next generation Aveo is a different model

Our friend Sam over at Autoblog tells us that the next generation Aveo is not the Agile. He breathes a sigh of relief too!

Americans. You know

:D

Sam says the next generation Aveo is meticulously engineered to resemble the next generation Spark. He makes this statement as he happened to look at the new car last week on a special occasion.

This takes us back to the first set of spyshots that surfaced from the Nurburgring in May – is that the next generation Aveo?

OMG! Chevrolet Aveo & UV-A in Levi’s

OMG! Chevrolet Aveo & UV-A in Levi’s

Car abuse can’t get any worse and Chevys have been the targets of late. Quite predictably, it has happened in China, a place where anything and everything from Tata Nano to Rolls-Royce Phantom has a cloned twin.

Since all the cars sold in the world have been duplicated in China, the Chinese have come up with a brilliant plan to overcome the shortage of models to copy from – clone from a clothing line!

As part of an initiative named ‘East meets West’, Levis Strauss met Chevrolet (couldn’t figure out which of these represents the East), and the result of that is shown in these pictures.

Special Edition Chevrolet Aveo with airbag, leather upholstery, ABS launched

Special Edition Chevrolet Aveo with airbag, leather upholstery, ABS launched

General Motors launched a special edition Chevrolet Aveo with a host of new features in Delhi today. The best part of the special edition is it costs the same as the donor car, ie – More VFM.

The new set of features include useful items like leather upholstery, airbag, ABS and height adjustable driver’s seat. The change we would like to see on the Aveo would be refreshed exteriors and a diesel engine under the bonnet.

Refreshed Chevrolet Aveo sedan launched in China

Our friend Shaun from South Africa who earlier tipped us about the Chevrolet Cruze in Port Elizabeth, stumbled on another discovery. This is a vital model if I was GM, as the Aveo isn’t performing very well.

The Chevrolet Aveo sedan with visual changes is now available to our neighbors China. It won’t be long before GM drags it into India, but significant change needs to be under the bonnet to transform it into a high-volume sedan.

Changes are minor on the Lova (known in China)- The headlamps are new, the radiator grille is a bit wider and taller, the trademark yellow bow tie has also bloated the line running across is fatter and lends it a different look. The Chevrolet Captiva SUV has a similar face.

The V-shaped front bumper is similar to the Chevrolet Cruze. The fog lamps are placed in an aluminium housing. The alloy wheels are newly designed and the wing mirrors are twin-color.
