Performance of the team members and their activities was apprised time to time by the team leader. The team worked within the boundaries set by the SAE India BAJA rules. In spite having constraints such as sponsorship, rural locality where the institute resides and the facilities available at the location, made the team further innovative.
The team strictly followed an actionable plan with established targets to build the perfect ATV keeping the five basic design parameters namely durability, acceleration, traction, maneuverability and speed in mind. Most of the components were designed and manufactured to complement an ATV weighing 320kgs as the market catered to cars weighing above 1000kgs only.
With the immense team spirit and faith, gained working together since BAJA’07, team Ford GARUDA of Dr. M.G.R. Educational & Research Institute, Chennai believes it can come out with flying colors in BAJA’09. Their strategy has been moving around proven facts, specifications given, and involves in it the discipline and hard work of our team.
Designing and manufacturing an all-terrain vehicle is an immensely thought provoking and mind boggling task. Moreover, the number of students entering into the field of automobiles is continuously dwindling. As far as women are concerned, most of them still refrain from opting into this field considering it tough and out of their reach.
