Jeep Renegade is a compact SUV that is on sale in the international market. However, it SUV is not available in India at this point. Jeep Renegade was first launched in 2015. The SUV made its debut at the Geneva Motor Show in 2014 and received huge attention from the crowd. The production and official launch followed shortly afterwards. In 2018, the Jeep Renegade was given its first facelift updates. It is sold in various market in North America, Europe, South Africa, Japan, China and so on. Still, Jeep hasn’t brought this SUV to the Indian market yet. Even though there are a few reports suggesting that the Jeep Renegade is likely to launch in India, the American car brand hasn't confirmed anything.
Jeep Renegade inherits the signature rugged look from the Jeep family. It gets the same seven vertical slat grille, dominant skid plate up front, and round, boxy taillights as well as squarish wheel arches.
In its home country, Jeep Renegade is powered by either a 1.4-litre four-cylinder engine or a 2.4-litre four-cylinder unit. Both of the engines belong to the MultiAir III turbocharged petrol series. While the smaller 1.4-litre unit is capable of churning out 157 BHP and 249 Nm, the larger 2.4-litre motor is powerful enough for 177 BHP. The transmission for the 1.4-litre engine is a 6-speed manual unit while the 2.4-litre engine makes use of a 9-speed automatic gearbox.
However, if launched in India, it is unlikely that Jeep will bring all these engine options to the India-spec model. Instead, it will get a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbocharged diesel that is doing duty on the Jeep Compass. The other option could be the smaller 1.4-litre petrol unit. The transmission options are likely to be the same.
In the international market, Jeep Renegade is loaded with various features including an 8.4-inch Uconnect infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Carplay, panoramic removable sunroof, multiple-driving models, 18-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, and many more.
It was previously reported that Jeep is getting ready to launch four new SUVs in India. Jeep Renegade could be one of them. The Renegade was even spotted doing testing in India before. However, Jeep Renegade launch date in India is not confirmed yet. According to Jeep’s plan, there will be a new SUV to enter the market next year. Hopefully, this time, it will be the Jeep Renegade.
In India, Jeep is currently offering only two models, Jeep Compass and Jeep Wrangler. If Jeep Renegade makes it to India shore, it will be positioned below the Jeep Compass. It means that the Jeep Renegade would be the new entry-level model of the range. Jeep Renegade will make it more affordable for Indian customers to own a Jeep.
If launched, Jeep Renegade is expected to be priced around Rs 18 lakh to Rs 25 lakh.
