Is this what you’d call a bolt out of the blue? Hardly a day has passed since we showed you images of the Hyundai i20 facelift from a dealer yard and here comes Hyundai with the prices and details of the i20 facelift, dubbed i-Gen Hyundai i20. Hyundai sent out an email containing details and studio shots of the car.

A Hyundai spokesman told Indian Autos Blog there was no specific reason for not conducting a press conference or a launch ceremony. He said vehicles have been dispatched to dealers across the country.

Our friends at GoaOnWheels.com have managed to get hold of some photographs of the facelifted Hyundai i20 from what looks like a dealership yard adjacent to the showroom. GoaOnWheels have also uploaded interior shots revealing the changes.

As expected, it is no different compared to the Geneva show car. The air vents are adjusted vertically and the bigger buttons are spaced out around the console. The top half of the dash is now in dark gray instead of the chocolate brown on the current version.
Our regular reader Sharav Venkatesh has loaded us with pictures of Hyundai i20 facelift captured in the outskirts of Chennai. The vehicle has already been unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show last week, but this is the first time (correct me if I’m wrong) the car has been spotted in the wilderness.

Without the flood lights and the booth babes, we’re able to notice the changes on the new i20 sans distractions or optical enhancements.
The front has gained fat, a pair of sharp and connected headlights, LED light clusters on the circumference of the redesigned fog lights and what looks like a V-Shaped acrylic panel hosting the emblem.

The Hyundai i20 is India’s second best selling premium hatchback but its far from being perfect. Many customers (including me) have had to put up with rattles and squeaks from the dashboard and numb steering.

Would-be customers of the i20, a car that offers fantastic fuel economy, rear seat comfort and the feel of driving a big car are going to get a better model through the the redesigned model shown at Geneva which is more than just a facelift. Several improvements have been made to the car’s interiors.

Renault India will use the 1.5-liter (HR15DE) petrol engine on the Duster SUV. The move is may have been prompted as this engine is manufactured at the Oragadam plant for the Sunny sedan and is more fuel economical (a must for India) than the 1.6-liter used overseas. Renault will use the same 1.5 DCI driving the Micra, Sunny and Fluence on the Duster.
The urban SUV that competes with the mini Xylo and Ford EcoSport will be available in 2WD and 4WD forms, and by mid-2012, enter the market.
The changes on the interior of the Hyundai i20 facelift have been revealed through an IAB reader’s spyshot taken near the plant. “Action Kumar” snagged the test mule’s interiors revealing the changes on the AC vents and revisions to the central console. Hyundai may reveal the Fluidic i20 at the Geneva Motor Show next month and furnish showroom floors by the end of April.
Ford India is likely to lengthen the B-Max to accommodate a third row of seats and pitch it as a rival to the Maruti Ertiga and Mahindra Xylo in the next two years. Ford’s rumored to have assessed the Indian market for the launch of the five-seat B-Max and concluded that is too small for us.
The same 1-liter EcoBoost petrol engine and 1.5L Duratorq diesel engine from the Fiesta are expected to feature on the three-row B-Max with changed calibration.
The spyshots of the Hyundai i20 facelift continue to flow on Indian Autos Blog, the latest collection is from our good friend “Action Kumar” who spotted the LHD version of the i20 near his home and even managed to snag a few shots of its interior!

The main change we can make out are the aircon vents that are mounted and adjusted vertically, as opposed to the current model’s horizontal mounting. All air vents on the dashboard follow the new pattern.
