Hero ZIR

Hero is the leading company in the two-wheeler market in India. The brand has a handful of commercially successful bikes. However, some might have forgotten that back in 2014, Hero had introduced a maxi-scooter called Hero Zir at the Auto Expo. This European-styled scooter did not make it to the sale stage.

Back in 2014, Hero brought the Hero Zir to showcase at the Auto Expo. This European-styled maxi-scooter gained special attention from the audience. However, this scooter did not make it to our markets after all these years. However, considering the growing popularity of the maxi-scooters in recent years, it will not be a surprise if Hero reconsiders launching this model in our market. At the Auto Expo 2014, the Hero Zir was introduced in two variant, a step-through and a flat-floor version.

Hero Zir Dimension

The Hero Zir is 2,085 mm long. The width and height measure 745 mm and 1385 mm, respectively. It weighs 139 kg, which is quite heavy for a scooter.

Hero Zir Features

The Hero Zir made its first appearance years ago; however, its equipment list is still considered very decent even by today’s standard. The maxi-scooter got dual-projector headlights, DRLs, LED indicator, digital instrument cluster, mobile phone integration, wind protection screen and more. It features a step seat setting and an integrated pillion handle as well.

Hero Zir Design

Hero’s 150 cc scooter looks premium and sharp that will appeal to the younger group of buyers. It is backed up with a host of premium as mentioned above. On the front, there are sharp-looking headlights that enhance the premiumness of the design. Another note about the Hero Zir is its well-cushioned seats that bringing a comfortable riding experience for the rider.

Hero Zir Engine

Powering the maxi-scooter is a 150cc liquid-cooled 4-stroke engine. This engine generates a top power of 14 BHP and a maximum torque of 12.7 Nm. The suspension setup includes a telescopic fork up front and a pre-load adjustable mono-shock on the rear.  The fuel tank can hold up to 9 litres of fuel.

Hero Zir gets a 110/90/R13 tyre up front while the rear comes with a 130/70/R13 tyre. Both of them are tubeless. The braking system includes a disc brake and drum unit for the front and rear respectively. The operation of all electrical parts is powered by a 12V-6 aH battery.

Hero Zir Rivals and Prices

If launched, it would be rival against Vespa’s 150cc and Aprilia SXR 160. The price of the Hero Zir, if it makes it to the Indian market, is expected to be around Rs 70,000 and Rs 80,000 (ex-showroom, New Delhi).
