The car we’ve been waiting for all year is out in the open! Suzuki has released an exhaustive press release and set of images that will sweep you off the ground. Welcome everyone, to what would be the most beautiful car you could buy for under twenty lakh rupees – the 2010 Suzuki Kizashi
Did you know? We have been tracking the footsteps of the Kizashi since we started blogging last year.
To start with, the Nurburgring-honed Suzuki Kizashi will come with a 2.4-liter DOHC inline four-cylinder engine that is coupled to a CVT or a six-speed manual transmission, which would the preffered car for Indian customers when it comes here next year.
The Kizashi stands on gorgeous 18 inchers, comes with standard eight airbags, ABS, EBD and ESP.
Now that the Kizashi is launched in the U.S, all we want to know is when it would come to India. Is it going to steal the thunder at the Auto Expo 2010?
Whenever it comes to India, the Kizashi will certainly jolt the competition. The Skodas, Hondas and Toyotas better be prepared for it.
The models could vary from 12-20 lakh rupees, the level of equipment and engine options could divert buyers from the regulars in this price range. And there is always the closely knitted Maruti service network spanning the length and breadth of the nation, ready to take your calls and provide you with care and love.
A 2.0-liter engine could win the favor of many Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla buyers, while the AWD option would virtually make it invincible in the Accord-Camry league.
The Suzuki Kizashi clearly carries the DNA of the modern Suzuki. Our favorite bit is the large radiator mesh. Whats yours?
Mr. Shinzo Nakanishi also revealed that the 3.5-liter V6 engine for the project has been scrapped and instead a smaller and more fuel efficient 2-liter engine will be the alternative to the Honda Accord, Skoda Superb and Toyota Camry slayer.
He added the market conditions and requirements have turned towards smaller and efficient engines and Suzuki Motor Corporation’s reflex is the scrappage of the 3.5-liter V6 variant which could have costed up to 25 lakh rupees in India if the original plan had gone through.
When asked about the remedy for the falling sales of the presently biggest car SX4, Mr.Nakanishi responded that a diesel engine would eventually arrive but the 1.3-liter Multijet that drives a handful of cars in India won’t make the cut as it is underpowered for application on SX4.
Auto blogs in the blogsphere yesterday flashed news of Suzuki killing off the Kizashi project due to the poor economic conditions and that Osuma Suzuki had already hinted it’s ending last year- We too got you the story but we warned you it could all be horse shit bollocks as an official confirmation had not been made by the company then.
The company has made an official announcment, not to confirm that the project is dead, but to say it’s very much alive and kicking!
The Suzuki Kizashi, which will be Suzuki’s first car in the D-Segment will remain locked up in Suzuki’s garage till the end of the decade, Reuters reports.
Suzuki CEO Osamu Suzuki, it seems had hinted this way back last year in an interview sighting unfavorable economic conditions. He claims that there is no point in producing a car that will sell under a segment that’s doing horribly worldwide. Suzuki (under the name Maruti Suzuki) has been struggling even in India, where it commands more than 50% of the market share.
Yes! We have seen this car countless times before. Yet, we can’t stop as the number of times this car is being photographed on the streets with camouflage is increasing day by day. Actually these pictures are a bit old but the interiors have been snapped for the first time.
The Suzuki Kizashi will be Maruti Suzuki’s first D-segment car in India when it arrives in 2010. The Suzuki Kizashi is a stylish sedan, with so many Suzuki trademarks all over it’s body. Be it the raised boot-lid placement or the steeply raked windscreen, it’s oozing SX4 or Dzire from which ever angle you are looking. The twin exhaust that comes out the rear bumper adds to the aggression and is a nice touch.
These photographs are from Japan, the test mule was putting in some quick laps at the local race circuit. Will the Suzuki have the might to take on cars like the Honda Accord and Toyota Camry? Your question is answered if you know the answer to how many 20 lakh-car owners would like to run shoulders with Suzuki Alto and Omni owners.
Kizashi buyers will no doubt benefit from the ample availability of spares and unmatched Maruti Suzuki service back-up. Peace of mind, and lots of it.
