Have you heard about a company called Novel Sport? Even we didn’t, until this morning. Novel Sport is a tuning brand run by a local Ford dealer in South Africa which specializes in tuning Ford Cars. Now, they have presented a limited edition Figo which is very tastefully souped up.
The car features 1.4L engine with a Power flow exhaust, spotlights, boot spoiler, 17’inch alloys and lowered suspension and tinted windows. Being a Figo, it already comes with Radio, CD and iPod connection, aircon, dual airbags, power steering, ABS with EBD.
If you are also thinking – “God, those alloys are hot!” then let me tell you 17″ Racing Hart Boro mags with 205/40 tyres. The dealer is also ready to offer a 4 year/60,000km Service Plan after the customization.
What’s the Indian connection? The donor car is manufactured at Ford’s Chennai plant!
Our friends at Polo Driver have reported on an interesting tuning package that is suitable for Volkswagen Vento owners in India. German tuner Oettinger has published details of its upgrade to the 1.6-liter TDI engine which in its standard form develop 104bhp. Once the package is installed, power is bumped to 124bhp.
Performance is improved lower down the rev range, with an additional 47Nm of torque. This takes the grand total to 297Nm (range of the Sumo Grande/Scorpio). The mountain of torque improves acceleration times as 0.6 seconds is shaved off in the 0-60mph sprint.
Oettinger isn’t a roadside mechanic shop who isn’t entirely certain of the nature of work. They’ve been in the tuning parts business for 50 years and they offer two years’ guarantee on engine, gearbox and drivetrain upgrades. The 1.6 TDI engine features on many VW Group vehicles in Europe (VW, SEAT, Skoda and Audi models) and it can be installed in any of them.
If you are looking to beef up your Vento with Oettinger’s product, be ready to shell out 1090 Euros (about 70k rupees). This of course is independent of the costs incurred in transporting your Vento to one of Oettinger’s 150 Performance Centers in Europe.
Is the 1.6-liter diesel engine on your Volkswagen Vento insufficient? Is your Volkswagen Vento making you yawn everytime you look at it? We have a potential fix to your problem. Renowned Indian car performance expert Pete has come up with a package to spruce up the VW Vento. The modifications are both visual and mechanical. Pete offers the following items as part of the Volkswagen Vento 130 package – 1) [ Read More ]
The Suzuki Swift has always been a boy racers car. Its fast, its cheap, handles well, easy to repair and it looks good as well.
You can see a lot of them modded on city streets. But those are all aftermarket jobs. But when the company itself rolls up its sleeves, what you get is an R Concept or simply put a really mental Swift.
The Suzuki Swift R Concept, which will debut at the upcoming Beijing Auto Show, takes its inspiration from the GSX-R bikes and is quite evident from the really aggressive body work and very fat tires that it sits on. This front wheeled drive hot hatch is expected to be powered by a 1.4L liter turbocharged petrol unit that makes a whooping 180 bhp! All this power is harnessed by a 7 speed dual-clutch transmission borrowed from VW.
All said and done, we just can’t wait for the Beijing Motor Show later this year.
It isn’t only the customers who can’t stop fantasizing on their VWs. German tuners who have brought out numerous kits and accessories for the vehicle in the past are also equally passionate.
If you’re following the Polo Cup and want your VW Polo to look and feel like the cars you see on TV, then read on!
Tuner MS Design’s package for the new VW Polo is the latest to join that list. They’re offering customization options for the Polo which include 18-inch alloys, red color ORVMs, LED integrated front bumper, a lowered suspension, etc which they term as “MRace Polo.”
There are no mechanical changes, so if you hoped this Polo will set the streets on fire, then you better think again. As the changes are more or less after-market additions, it shouldn’t be a problem fitting them to your petrol/diesel Polo.
The parts can also be purchased individually. If you choose to buy the whole package, it will set you back by not less that 1,000 Euros (59,000 rupees).

Skoda’s German arm has introduced a sports kit for the Fabia named “Race Package”
Available on the 68hp 1.2-liter petrol and and 85HP 1.2-liter TSI petrol, the Race-package contains a front spoiler, a new apron for the rear bumper with an integrated diffuser, chrome exhaust tail pipe cover, white-colored roof and fancy graphics that run at the rear and top of the vehicle.
17-inch alloy wheels dressed in white, and a lowered suspension setup complete the package that costs (US$19,000-20,500)
In India, Skoda has neglected the Fabia, not even bothering to upgrade it to BS4 norms. Perhaps the race package could be introduced when the BS4 Fabia is launched later this year.
Chevrolet and its European tuning associate Irmscher has launched a modified Chevrolet Cruze in Germany with cosmetic and mechanical upgrades at this week’s AMI motorshow in Leipzig, Germany.
Called Cruze Irmscher Edition, the car receives an optional boot lid spoiler, 18-inch alloy wheels draped in fatter 225 sport tires and aluminum door sills.
Irmscher’s under-hood modifications include a 25mm suspension drop, exhaust silencers with elliptical twin exits along with a 36HP and 146Nm boost for the 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine taking the total output to 186HP and 466Nm at 2,300 rpm.
Post surgery, the diesel Cruze does zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 8.0 seconds. The Cruze Irmscher Edition can be bought in Chevrolet’s German dealerships.
For the Indian Cruze buyer with a disappointed look, well you see Chevrolet at the moment is focused on selling the default Cruze. Once the company is able to clear the backlogs, it will think about introducing body kits and modifications.
Karl Slym, President and Managing Director of GM India in an interview recently said the Transformers-GM partnership is not going to influence cars in India. This means the Bumble Bee paint scheme would not be imitated on smaller cars like the Cruze and the Beat.
