Suzuki Swift Sport Rock am Ring in Europe

Swift Sport Rock am Ring has a good reason to be here

Suzuki will introduce a special edition of the Swift Sport dubbed “Swift Sport Rock am Ring.”

Some of you may ask why, and there’s a good reason (unlike manufacturers unveiling special editions to celebrate a victory at a local award ceremony)

This model will mark the 25th anniversary of the music festival sponsored by the Japanese manufacturer scheduled to take place at the Nurburgring race track in June.

The Suzuki Swift Sport Rock am Ring is distinguished by logos, a new entertainment system that comprises of a Clarion Navigation system, featuring a 6.9 inch color display, a 30 Gb hard drive for storing music, multiple power speakers and an iPod auxiliary adapter.

You can buy your Rock am Ring in three shades – Whit Pearl Metallic, Cosmic Black Pearl Metallic and Supreme Red Pearl Metallic.

You get the standard Sport Swift’s configuration. This means that the car will continue to be powered by a 1.6 liter petrol engine, that makes 125 hp at 6,800 rpm and 109 lb-ft (148 Nm) of torque at 4,800 rpm. 0-100kph comes in 8.9 seconds and a top speed of 124 mph (200 km/h), makes for a fast car.

Only 700 units of the music-inspired Swift Sport will ever be made and it’ll set you back by 17,990 euro when sales begin next month. If you choose to buy one, that is.

Tuning – VW Polo by JE design

The JE Design body kit for the VW Polo looks good. But the prices seem exorbitant

Now, for all of those who are eager to see a VW Polo in all its “Sport” glory, here’s one that won’t make it to India.

These pictures show you what can be done with the forthcoming VW Polo, so that all you wanna be “Cool & Bad” dudes can take your Polos to custom shops and get them heavily modified.

Here’s one by JE Design, Germany. The Orange body paint with black stripes looks good, but would personally like to see a “Electric Blue” with Orange stripes or “Metallic Grey” with Black stripes. Notice how the strips are carried on from the roof to the bonnet. The treatment lends it a meaty and arrogant look.

For an average driver, this car would only feel more intimidating as it grows in his rear view mirror. The twin exhaust centered at the rear is very sporty along with a “diffuser” treatment. Not sure of the material that JE Design have used, but the carbon fiber like treatment to the entire section is very desirable.

chevrolet cruze ss singaporeThe Chevrolet Cruze SS body kit adds aggression and toughness to the car

GM in Singapore is offering a “Cruze SS” bodykit for Chevrolet Cruze customers. The inspiration for the body kit has clearly come from the Bumblebee character played by the Chevrolet Camaro in the mega hit Transformers movie.

The kit consisting of a front, rear and side skirts, a rear spoiler, 17 inch alloy wheels wrapped with Falken tyres, and illuminated skuff plates, adds oomph to the already muscular styling.

The Chevrolet Cruze SS kit is priced at SG$4,980 which translates to around 1.63 lakh rupees.

If you think this pack looks uncool, then check out the Irmscher body kit for the Chevrolet Cruze.

This exhaust system not only reduces overall weight but improves the horsepower and torque figures thereby fetching out the maximum from the engine. The sound of the bike also changes and gives a deep and throaty exhaust note.

These exhaust system are available in three different types of canister mainly Aluminum Canister, Carbon Fiber Canister and Titanium Canister.

However, since we haven’t seen any performance tests of the bike after installing this exhaust system, it would be difficult to say how much the bike performance would improve. The price of the exhaust system starts at US $350.

Monster NX 16 – The Swift’s new ruthless Japanese cousin

Monster NX 16 – The Swift’s new ruthless Japanese cousin

Suzuki Swift being a proper hot hatch with its mini-like looks has bowled over millions of Indians. It has been the younger generation’s toy to play with as for as modification of cars in India is concerned. This is apart from the older Honda City, Mitsubishi Lancer and Skoda Octavia.

The 87 horses of the Swift was enough for the Indian customers to break speed limits, but the new Japanese cousin has so many, you could reach speeds that could end you up in jail.

Honda Civic could get the Mugen treatment in Europe

Honda Civic could get the Mugen treatment in Europe

Japanese tuning legend Mugen might just lay its hands on the Honda Civic and what might come out of this is anyone’s guess, a sheer powerhouse Mugen Honda Civic RR expected to rip the roads off.

Mugen will be striping extra weight off the car and boost the power to 240hp that pretty much will do the trick, if not then the big 18-inch alloys, upgraded Brembo brakes, Recaro sports seats and specifically re-tuned suspension ought to do it.

Of course all this high end tweaking doesn’t come cheap. The Mugen Honda Civic RR is expected to cost Rs. 27 lakhs. But befoe all we Indians get excited about this, it will be sold only in the European market.

Like how the 270 bhp Accord made it to India, the Mugen-treated Honda Civic could serve as a limited edition. After cars like the Honda Civic Hybrid, we infer the company isn’t necessarily against experimenting, which gives us confidence to say there is a chance for such a car.

With BMW selling its M models in the country and Mercedes with its complete AMG lineup, why can’t Honda ship Mugen cars and cash in on the performance market?
