Report – Maruti Suzuki Ritz petrol is preferred over the diesel

The Maruti Suzuki Ritz Petrol preferred over the diesel one, reports have revealed. According to the dealers only 30% of the Ritz sold till now are the diesel 1.3 ltr and the rest are 1.2 ltr petrol versions.

Generally in this particular segment the sales of the diesel variant is more than the petrol due to a host of reasons, but in the case of the Ritz, it is different.

If we look at the Suzuki Swift sales, the petrol and diesel models are evenly split and sometimes the diesel sales are more then that of the petrol.

Report – Ritz introduction has not harmed Swift sales numbers

Report – Ritz introduction has not harmed Swift sales numbers

Many of us were slightly convinced after hearing Honda Jazz’s game plan (works on paper, might only be a paper tiger). Weeks, even months prior to the launch, we felt Honda were on a weak wicket if they priced the Jazz above all hatchbacks in India.

Preceding the launch of the Suzuki Ritz, we ran a comparo that got many of you talking, some of you said the Ritz was unnecessary while others felt the Swift had to be replaced with something bigger and better to clearly differentiate it from its new relative.

But you know what? We are all wrong! at least for now.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Special – Press Release and chief engineer’s message

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Special – Press Release and chief engineer’s message

Listen to what Toshihiro Suzukiu Chief Engineer of the Maruti Ritz has to say -

For all of you who were looking for the perfect blend of style and features, the wait is finally over. It is a privilege to introduce the new benchmark in car design – the all new Maruti Suzuki Ritz.

Ritz is the culmination of six months of research on European car trends, fashion, lifestyle and design. After which it underwent a series of thorough tests on Indian Roads to fine-tune the car to better suit the needs of the Indian consumer. User friendliness formed the core objective in Ritz’s development. It is a multipurpose vehicle suited to all users, irrespective of their age and lifestyle. Its strong-flared fenders create a sure-footed look with a reassuringly stable silhouette, unlike other tall wagons.

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Special – Indian Television Advertisement

In case you did not know, Maruti Suzuki India Limited has launched the Ritz, and we are continuing our coverage on the car throughout today.

We previously showed you the international Suzuki Splash TV advertisement, which has no similarities to the above Indian version.

This Maruti Ritz TV Advertisement, I have not yet seen on any Indian TV channels.

I don’t know whether it is worth airing since it conveys no meaning or message. The guy walks to the car, gets into it and starts driving. He looks up at the end of it and the camera zooms out to show him driving again.

Maruti, you need to hire someone else to make your Ads. This isn’t very good.

The Ritz is also India’s first BS IV compliant hatchback. Maruti’s spokesperson declined to comment on the number of cars they were targeting to sell due to the twisted market conditions, but assured it was equipped to meet any level of demand.

Maruti Suzuki India Managing Director and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi-

“Ritz is our parent Suzuki’s fifth global model and it will be the first Bharat Stage-IV emission norms compliant Indian car. We have launched it at the beginning of the fiscal and we hope it will bring excitement in the market”

Maruti Suzuki Ritz Special – Crash Test Video

Over the next five days, Indian Autos Blog will publish one post on the Maruti Suzuki Ritz/Splash. Today we feature a colossal crash test clipping of the car. We’re no NASTRAN or crash test engineers. We’ve not specialized in destructive testing, but to the common man’s eye, it looks safer than many of the Chinese junk cars that we’ve seen tested.

Crash Test Lesson – The Crumple zone at the front is made of a material inferior in terms of strength compared to the passenger cells. It absorbs kinetic energy and dissipates it by crumbling.

Come back tomorrow for more information on the Splash/Ritz

Case Study – Maruti Suzuki Ritz vs Maruti Suzuki Swift

Few days back, you might have read from the Updates in the sidebar that Maruti Ritz is to be launched on the 15th of May. What you might not have heard is the fact that Maruti officials are going around announcing that Maruti Ritz’ main rival is the Maruti Swift. How uncool is that? Let’s hear what Maruti Suzuki MD Shinzo Nakanishi had to say

Ritz will directly compete with Swift. In the past, when we have launched cars in the same segment, it has helped the market to grow. With the launch of Ritz, our customers would have two cars to choose from in the same category”

Just to remind you, WagonR and Zen Estilo are two Marutis competing in the same small car segment. Mind you though, the Wagon R was facelifted when the Esilo came out. Apparently, the idea was to create a spectre of two new cars being launched.

In Swift’s case however, no major facelifts have been done since 2004, and by seeing the number of Swifts on the road (75% in the compact car segment), i would’nt be surprised if someone says he/she has gotten ‘BORED’ of the Swift!

Maruti Suzuki’s engineers worked as part of Suzuki’s Engine Design team for the design, calibration and testing of the engine in Japan and in India.
