IAB is in Mumbai tomorrow to drive the VW Polo

Over the last few days, our updates have not been all that frequent. What you should know is we have some awesome stuff lined up over the next few days. This post will give you a sneak peek.

1) We ask Karl Slym, President and Managing Director of GM India all kinds of questions including his EV plans and an all-new SUV on the T300 platform

2) We drive the new VW Polo and publish all we can about it

3) We post never before seen spyshots of the new Mitsubishi Lancer testing in India and a Tata 207. Except that this one has a DICOR engine on-board!

4) We take the Tata Nano out for a spin and see if it can handle the expressways

5) SRK’s renderings of the Mahindra Maxximo passenger version, Skoda’s small car that sits under Fabia and the 2012 Fiat small car will be aired.

Let me tell you – the next few days are going to be very explosive. Stay tuned to IAB using RSS Feeds or Email updates

New CEO for Tata Motors – wants 100 days

Carl-Peter Forster – Group CEO, Tata Motors

Tata Motors has appointed Mr. Carl-Peter Forster as new CEO of the group. Mr. Forster will be in charge of overall Tata Motors operations including Jaguar and Land Rover. Mr. Forster was the former head of GM Europe operations. On behalf of IAB, we would like to congratulate Mr. Forster on his appointment.

A tough job lay ahead for Mr. Forster, but he could not have come at a better time. The economy is recovering, money is back in the market, Tata Motors domestic sales in January was great considering competition and prior months. Well it could be the January effect (new year sales etc), but certainly a good month for Tata Motors.

IAB is back to its regular schedule, has good news, needs your help

Cow

Hello there!

No we’re not going to ask you to sign on a blank check or carry us atop the Himalayas.

First things first – We have been taking it slow and easy in the last few weeks and we’ve got a very good excuse for that.

We have added two new blogs to the family! Testing, probing, thinking, discussing with the team on the subject of these new blogs took a lot of time away from IAB. Now that the new blogs have been setup, appointed with writers, and given a push, our primary focus will turn towards IAB once again.

In case you haven’t noticed the embedded feeds (on top right, below individual posts) on IAB, let me give you an introduction to them.

1) Indian Motos Blog (http://indianmotosblog.com)

After seeing the interest our visitors have for two-wheeler news, I decided to spin it off into a dedicated blog. I have also installed a modified layout, but it is very closely based on IAB’s layout. The look and feel isn’t very different. Regular posting has started there. Each and every development in the Indian motorcycle industry will be covered on IMB. IMB will deal with India-centric motorcycle news, reviews, opinion and so on. We will also at times write on international bikes. Motorcycle enthusiasts will find something to munch on everyday on IMB.

If you are an RSS addict, you can subscribe to Indian Motos Blog’s feed by clicking here.

2) Steering News (http://steeringnews.com)

This is a slightly ambitious project, and we’re still figuring what news will fit into this blog. The underlying idea of this blog is to cover the international scene with news of interest to Indian reader. We’re mainly going to publish spy shots, artist renderings, offbeat news and happenings from around the globe. We will be dealing with fast cars, weird cars, funny cars, etc on Steering News. We’ll try and keep it unique; we don’t want to write on what the biggies write on. We deal with what they have missed out. This is the thought with which we embarked on this project.

If you are an RSS addict, you can subscribe to Steering News’ feed by clicking here.

IAB is at the Delhi Auto Expo, interacts with GM’s global design head

Indian Autos Blog was in Delhi today to cover the launch of the new Mercedes Benz GL, S500L and the Chevrolet Beat.

At the launch of the Chevrolet Beat, we had an exclusive chat with GM’s global design chief Mr.Ed Welburn who is credited with designing cars like the Beat, Cruze and Camaro. Mr Welburn spoke to us on where GM’s design is heading and how the Beat came about.

We’ll hopefully publish all the information and images live from the show so you don’t have to go anywhere. Check IAB every hour for updates.

We’re driving the Chevrolet Beat, covering the Rolls and Beetle launches

Updates on IAB have been sluggish over the last two days and we’ve got a very good excuse for that. Driving the new Chevrolet Beat from Gurgaon to Jaipur left us with little time to update our blog.

We’ll be restarting the updates day after tomorrow with exclusive images and information from VW Beetle and Rolls Royce launches that happen tomorrow. Following that, we will bring you a test drive report of the Beat and a weekend special as well.

So until then you might want to go through our earlier test drives or browse our collection of spyshots or artist drawings.

We’ll be back soon.

We’re back from not two, but three new vehicle launches!

We’re back after attending not two, but three launches in Mumbai – Premier Rio, Honda Aviator 110 and the Mahindra Gio.

Rio-Gio — Some coincidence.

We’ll be updating the blog with all the images and information obtained from these launches. Apart from the press release, answers to questions we posed to the heads of the companies will also be sent through. Updating will begin shortly.

We’re at Premier-Zotye Rio launch tomorrow; Surprise launch from Mahindra

mahindra_2011_world_SUV_W202

Indian Autos Blog will not be updated on Wednesday (28th October) as we will be at the Premier-Zotye Rio launch in Mumbai. Following this launch, in the afternoon, we have been invited to attend a Mahindra product launch also. We don’t know what the product is, we’re told its not the refreshed Renault Logan, Sandero or other Renault products.

Some of us are hoping that it will be the world SUV displayed above. What we really don’t want to see is a taxi variant of Xylo or a Scorpio variant with airbags. Mahindra has not created any hype regarding this unveil, so we don’t know what really to expect.

We will come back from both the launches and post high quality images with first hand information.

We’re back from the Ford Figo and new Mercedes E-Class launch

Apologies!

We’ve always brought you instant updates and information from launches happening in India. At least that’s been the case in the last few months here on Indian Autos Blog.

Today, all three of us – Shakti Budhiraja, Ritesh Madhok and I (Shrawan Raja) for a change attended together, not one, but two launches – namely the new E-Class and Ford Figo.

Believe it or not, this is the first time all three of us are meeting each other!

We got carried away and among the other reasons for not coming live was the non-availability of a proper internet connection when we most needed it.

We’re not giving excuses any more. I apologize if we have starved you (our readers) of constant updates from these two crucial launches.

Take this as a promise – We’re in full throttle mode from tomorrow morning. We’ll start with posting exclusive images of the Figo and the new E-Class. Then I’ll discuss what was spoken at both the launches by the respective company heads.
