Malaysian auto market leader Perodua has introduced a minor update for the Alza, the oldest model in its line-up. This is the second time the Maruti Ertiga rival has received a facelift.
The updated Perodua Alza features sportier bumpers, with the new front piece giving an X-shaped look. Also new is the sharp radiator grille with two horizontal slats, the reshaped lower grille, the side skirts and the back door garnish. The 15-inch alloy wheels now come in a Titanium finish. The colour palette includes a new metallic selection called ‘Granite Grey’.
There are some refreshes inside. The national automaker has introduced newly designed leather seats, new instrument cluster design and new infotainment system with Smart Link for Android smartphones. It also mentions improved cooling for third-row seats. The new model offers enhanced accessibility with a new 2-motion remote control key. There’s only one safety enhancement that has come with the update, and that’s the front parking sensors.
The Perodua Alza measures 4,220 mm in length, 1,695 mm in width and 1,620 mm in height. The 7-seat MPV has a 2,750 mm wheelbase. Under the hood, it retains the old 3SZ-VE 1.5-litre engine that has sat there since the launch in 2009. This four-cylinder petrol mill produces 76 kW (104 PS) at 6,000 rpm and 136 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. The transmission choices have also remained the same: 5-speed manual and 4-speed automatic.
