Royal Enfield has sent out media invites for the launch of a new motorcycle in India on 28 August. The company hasn’t revealed many details of the bike, but according to media reports, it is likely to be the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Special Edition.
According to the company, the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Special Edition is an ode to motorcycles used by the Indian Armed Forces. Yesterday, a Team-BHP report suggested the upcoming bike to be the ABS variant of the Classic 350. Team-BHP forum member SJM1214 also released two images of the forthcoming bikes.
The images of the Royal Enfield Classic 350 Special Edition reveal the motorcycle in two colour options - Matte Navy Blue and Matte Army Brown. The bikes feature an Indian Flag logo with ‘49’ number on the fuel tank along with a dedicated series number. The Classic 350 Special Edition comes with a tanned brown single seat, while it gets matte black detailing for the engine, rims, exhaust, handlebar and the headlight bezel.
Powering the Royal Enfield Classic 350 is a 346 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled, 4-stroke, Twinspark motor that is capable of producing a maximum power of 19.8 bhp at 5,250 rpm along with 28 Nm of peak torque at 4,000 rpm. The engine works with a 5-speed gearbox. Braking power comes from a 280 mm front rotor with 2-piston calliper, and a 153 mm rear drum brake. That said, the Special Edition model is likely to get a rear disc brake and dual-channel ABS.
The Royal Enfield Classic 350 comes shod with 19-inch front and 18-inch rear wire-spoke wheels that wrap on 90-section front and 110-section rear tube-type tires. The motorcycle is equipped with 35 mm telescopic front forks with 130 mm suspension travel and twin gas-charged coil-spring shock absorbers at the back.
The stock Royal Enfield Classic 350 costs INR 1.39 lakh while the Redditch Edition comes with a price tag of INR 1.47 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi). That said, the Classic 350 Special Edition is likely to carry a price tag of around INR 1.50 lakh (expected ex-showroom).
