Honda does not offer the current generation Honda City in a diesel-CVT combination. According to a report from Autocar India, the company will consider this configuration for the next-gen Honda City.

No diesel CVT option for current Honda City
The current generation City will soon be nearing the end of its lifecycle and introducing a CVT option with its diesel engine in it is not feasible.

The second-gen Honda Amaze that debuted at Auto Expo 2018 will come with a diesel-CVT configuration. Although the City gets the same diesel engine, Honda does not feel it is feasible to launch the City diesel with a CVT. The primary reason is that the current generation model just a year or so from getting phased out so, the potential volumes for the time remaining don't make it feasible for Honda to work on offering a CVT with the diesel engine now. However, with the company is looking at expanding the availability of CVT and the next-gen Honda City diesel could include this option in the range.

The fifth-gen City may have a design influenced by Honda's latest global sedans like the third-gen Honda Insight and the tenth-gen Honda Accord. A BS-VI compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine is undergoing tests and will debut in the next-gen Honda City. Along with that, an improved version of the 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine is expected. Like the Hyundai Verna and Toyota Yaris, the Honda City may finally feature curtain airbags with the next full makeover, offering higher safety. The new touchscreen infotainment should offer Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support.

The next-gen City is said to have a hybrid variant in India, although that is expected to arrive only after 2020.
