Along with the unveiling of its EXEED TX compact SUV, Chery also took the wraps off the Chery Tiggo Coupe Concept at the IAA 2017 in Frankfurt. It serves the purpose of showcasing various designs stemmed from Chinese brand’s ‘Life In Motion’ design philosophy.
Chery has not provided many details nor confirmed its production for sale in any market. They have divulged that the Tiggo Coupe rides on a new modular platform that incorporates state-of-the-art features. Interestingly, one of them is a multi-function “interactive steering wheel” that can be folded and used as a game controller to play video games while cruising in autonomous mode!
Powering the Tiggo Coupe Concept is a 120 kW electric motor powered by an unspecified lithium-ion battery pack. Chery claims that it can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7 seconds, before hitting a top speed of over 200 km/h. The batteries can deliver a driving range of up to 500 km, Chery says. The Li-ion battery pack can be fast-charged to 80% of its capacity in just 20 minutes, while a full charge is claimed to take only two hours.
Like most of the large Chinese car manufacturers, Chery is working on establishing operations in Europe. The EXEED TX is the first in a family of models Chery has earmarked for sale Europe. Like the Tiago Coupe, it is based on an all-new platform developed in partnership with the world’s leading suppliers, which conforms to high quality standards.
