The Tata Nexon we experienced at the recent drive event debuted a new interface for the touchscreen system in Tata cars. Digit is reporting that this latest iteration of Tata's Human Machine Interface will be picked up by older models Tata Tigor and Tata Hexa as well.
The report claims Tata Motors' engineering team has confirmed that existing models will inherit this interface. However, a timeline has not been specified. The latest version of Tata's ConnectNext infotainment setup has support for Android Auto with Apple CarPlay support set to be added soon. However, these features are likely to be given as miss owing to the screen size constraints of the Tigor and Hexa's 5-inch unit. Only the UI will be new similar to the Nexon's.
Until now, the ConnectNext app suite is downloadable via the Play Store in Android devices. With the update, iOS devices will be able to access the app suite as well. ConnectNext offers NaviMaps app, Juke-Car app, Tata Smart Manual, Tata Smart Remote app and Tata Motors Service Connect app.
All latest Tata products including the Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa as well as the upcoming Tata Nexon feature a HARMAN infotainment system that offer an impressive aural experience. While the Tigor, Tiago, and Nexon get an 8-speaker setup, the Hexa features a 10-speaker JBL arrangement.
