Update - A Youtube user has spotted the Mahindra U321/S321 on test near Chennai.
As M&M's engineers at the MRV continue testing the upcoming Mahindra U321/S321 pan-India, a Team BHP reader has managed to capture images of the Toyota Innova rival with its production spec tail lights.
The rear light cluster, previously unseen on test mules, feature a long profile stretching to the top of the D Pillar. The generously dimensioned feature do not appear as LED units. The Mahindra U321 (Mahindra S321) test mule rides on split-spoke alloy wheels seen previously. The mule features fog lamps and halogen headlamps up front. Previous spy shots of the Mahindra U321 have revealed details like projector headlamps, a toothed front grille and a beige interior.
The first stage of development of the Mahindra U321 was at the Mahindra North American Technical Center in Troy, Michigan moving over to the Mahindra Research Valley near Chennai for testing and validation. The engine powering the MPV, according to reports, will be a new 1.6 L diesel unit developed in conjunction with SsangYong. A petrol variant is a given as the company stated last year that products coming out 2018 onwards would feature the alternate powertrain option.
The Mahindra U321/Mahindra S321 is confirmed for its market launch before the end of the current fiscal year. In fact, Pawan Goenka, MD, Mahindra and Mahindra, had stated in an interview that the launch will take place this year, which means it could arrive in showrooms by Christmas. The company has revealed an investment of INR 1,500 Crores for this project.
