Hyundai India has released a teaser video of the next-gen Hyundai Verna. The company has confirmed a launch for August 2017 and will be similar to the 2017 Hyundai Solaris & 2018 Hyundai Accent retailed in Russia and North America.
The car adopts the Hyundai’s Fluidic Sculpture 2.0 design philosophy. The cascading grille is complemented with projector headlamps and LED daytime running lights. The new Hyundai Verna should measure 4,385 mm in length, 1,729 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, with a wheelbase spanning 2,580 mm. The wheelbase registers a gain of 10 mm.
The front bumper gets angular fog lamp enclosures with chrome detailing. The sedan's revamped interior gets a new steering wheel, dashboard and centre console. The gear lever, floor console and door panels have also been brought under the knife. A 7-inch touchscreen system with satellite navigation, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and voice control will also be on offer.
Safety features like parking sensors, reverse camera, ABS with EBD and six airbags are expected in the top-spec variant. This trim is also expected to get auto dimming mirrors and 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels as standard.
The new Hyundai Verna is likely to continue with the engine lineup from the outgoing model. These include the 107 PS 1.4-litre Gamma petrol, 123 PS 1.6-litre Gamma petrol, 90 PS 1.4-litre U2 CRDi diesel and 128 PS 1.6-litre U2 CRDi diesel engines available with 5-speed manual and 6-speed manual gearboxes. The company may replace the 4AT option in both 1.6 petrol and diesel engines the new torque converter 6AT unit from the Hyundai Creta.
The new 2017 Hyundai Verna is expected to have a price tag in the range of INR 8 lakhs to INR 13 lakhs.
