Toyota hints at a new SUV with this trademark application.
In October last year, Toyota filed a trademark application for 'Toyota FT-4X' name at the USPTO, which it used for a new concept SUV introduced at NYIAS 2017 in April. In the latest, the company has filed a trademark application for the name "TJ Cruiser".
At this stage it's unknown what the Toyota TJ Cruiser is, but chances are that Toyota is probably securing the name in case it decides to use it in the future, or maybe it has a new SUV in the works. The Toyota TJ Cruiser could emerge as the production version of the Toyota FT-4X Concept.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser is now discontinued in most major markets, and some may think of the Toyota FT-4X's production version as its successor initially, but that may not be the case. The Toyota FJ Cruiser is a much bigger, mid-size SUV, while the potential Toyota FT-4X's production version would launch as a sub-compact.

Toyota officials suggested that the company is interested in making a production Toyota FT-4X previously, and it could hit the markets as a traditionally styled SUV alternative to the Toyota C-HR. The concept version is based on the TNGA-C platform, measures 167.3 inches (4249.42 mm) in length, 71.7 inches (1821.18 mm) in width and 63.9 inches (1623.06 mm) in height, and has a wheelbase of 103.9 inches (2639.06 mm).
