The Royal Enfield Himalayan's sales stopped on April 1, 2017.
A test unit of the Royal Enfield Himalayan was spotted by Facebook user Krishna Kumar while the bike was out on roads in Karnataka. This is expected to be the fuel injected, BSIV compliant version of the Himalayan.
Royal Enfield President, Mr Rudratej Singh had confirmed to IAB that the Royal Enfield Himalayan BSIV version is coming ‘very soon’. Owners have complained about many niggles in the Royal Enfield Himalayan related to the quality, and the BSIV version is expected to iron out at least some of them.
The frame and suspension setup of the Royal Enfield Himalayan is developed by UK-based Harris Performance. The new 411 cc Long Stroke engine is the first powertrain by Royal Enfield to get an overhead cam. Coupled to a 5-speed gearbox, it is capable of producing 24.5 bhp of maximum power at 6,500 rpm and 32 Nm of peak torque at 4,250 rpm.
Originally launched with a carburetted mill, the fuel injected version of the Royal Enfield Himalayan was showcased at EICMA 2016.
