Maruti Suzuki service network to expand to 5000 outlets by 2020 - Report

Maruti Suzuki is preparing the infrastructure to sell 2+ million cars a year.

Maruti Suzuki's ambitious plan of launching 15 new products and the target of selling two million vehicles annually by 2020 will require a stronger dealership footprint and service network. According to a report from Nikkei, Maruti plans to expand its service network by 56% to 5,000 outlets by 2020. 3,000 will operate alongside dealerships, and 2,000 will operate separately.

Suzuki Motor Corporation wants to leave no stone unturned in retaining market leadership in India, and has lined up 6 further new launches until 2020.

India is the biggest market for Suzuki Motor Corporation. At a general shareholders meeting, the company said that it would significantly extend its service network to maintain its lead in the key market. The company "will absolutely defend its top position," said Toshihiro Suzuki, President & CEO, Suzuki Motor Corporation.

SMC had announced in 2015 that it would introduce 15 new models in India by 2020. Eight of them were launched by March this year, followed by the entry of the 2017 Maruti Dzire last month. Further this fiscal, the company will launch the 2017 Maruti S-Cross (facelift) and the 2018 Maruti Swift. The Maruti Ciaz is also expected to receive a facelift next year. Future products in the pipeline include the next-gen Maruti Ertiga (codename: Maruti YHA), an SUV-styled A-segment hatchback (codename: Maruti Y1K), a three-row version of the Wagon R, and a flagship SUV to take on the Mahindra XUV500.

An earlier report said that MSIL intends to have 4,000 dealerships by 2020.

Maruti Suzuki achieved its highest ever total sales of 15,68,603 units last fiscal (2016-17), registering a growth of 9%. Maruti aims to reach and maintain 50% market share with new launches and expanded dealership and service network.
