The BMW G310R is the first product of the TVS-BMW joint venture.
BMW Motorrad will not be launching the BMW G310R in India in 2017, Mr Vikram Pawah, President, BMW India, has confirmed to The Times of India. BMW will not open sales of its most afforable product till the necessary retail infrastructure is in place.
BMW Motorrad officially entered the Indian two-wheeler market in April 2017 with 11 CBU models. This includes sports, tour, heritage roadster and adventure lines, ranging between INR 14.90 lakhs and INR 28.50 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). The BMW G310R has been developed by BMW Motorrad at the Munich R&D facility and is manufactured by TVS Motor in Hosur, Tamil Nadu.
The BMW G310R gets premium features like an upside down fork, radially mounted caliper in the front disc, LCD instrumentation and ABS as standard. Powering the BMW G310R is a 313 cc single cylinder mill which is coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine churns out 34 bhp of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm.
With just four dealerships planned in the cities of Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Mumbai and Pune in the Phase 1, BMW Motorrad puts the G310R out of reach for a large part of its intended audience.
