Many reports affirm a launch in the second half of August.
According to reports, the 2017 Hyundai Verna will launch in India in the second half of August, which multiple websites have narrowed down to August 22, 2017. Hyundai Motor India Ltd has only stated that the car is en route in 2017.
The new Verna will measure 4,385 mm in length, 1,729 mm in width and 1,450 mm in height, and have a wheelbase spanning 2,580 mm. Compared to the outgoing 'Fluidic Verna' it will have a 10 mm longer wheelbase, 29 mm more overall width and overall length increased by 15 mm. The suspension and Motor-Driven Power Steering (MDPS) systems have been revised significantly in the North American spec Accent, and the 2017 Verna will undoubtedly inherit the updates.
The interior has a dual tone beige/black colour combo for the dashboard and seat upholstery, an all floating dashboard that houses 7-inch touchscreen AVN unit with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, new instrument dials and multi-info display, chunkier leather-wrapped steering wheel and an automatic ‘Clean Air’ climate control. Hyundai will most likely equip dual airbags and ABS as standard across the range, while side and curtain airbags could be exclusive to the range-topping SX (O) grade.
As for engine options, the new Verna could 1.4- and 1.6-litre N/A petrol and CRDi turbodiesel engines paired with 5-speed/6-speed manual options. Automatic variants will also be available at launch, although they could drop the 4-speed AT for a new 6-speed unit which has been redesigned for better performance and weighs 2 kg lighter. A big step up in mileage is on the cards if the Verna gets mild hybrid tech.
