BMW India has launched the latest generation of one of their best-selling models in India - the BMW 5 Series (G30) - today, in the presence of master batsman Sachin Tendulkar.
The all-new BMW 5 Series is available in three diesel variants – the BMW 520d Sport Line, the BMW 520d Luxury Line and the BMW 530d M Sport and in one petrol variant, the BMW 530i Sport Line, which are locally produced at the BMW Chennai plant.

The 530i packs a 2.0L 4-cyl turbocharged engine producing 252 hp. The 520d has the familiar 2.0L 4-cyl turbodiesel engine with 190 hp, while the range-topping 530d gets the 3.0l turbodiesel 6-cyl motor with 256 hp. All variants are paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox with steering-mounted paddle shifters as standard, which sends power to the rear wheels.
The top-end 530d M Sport comes with features like Head-up Display, fully digital instrument cluster, iDrive 6.0 with touch and air gesture support, automatic LED headlamps, four-zone climate control, rear seat entertainment, BMW Display Key with Remote Park Control, option between ivory or mocha colour theme, bright aluminium trim across dashboard, floor console and door panels, ambient lighting and sunroof. It has a boot space of 400L, including a spare wheel.
Thanks to the new CLAR RWD platform, the new 5 Series is 70 kg lighter than the outgoing car. It's also slightly bigger than before, measuring 4,935 mm long, 1,868 mm wide and 1,466 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,975 mm. It is 28 mm longer, 8 mm wider and 2 mm taller, while the wheelbase has increased by 7 mm.
