Suzuki's new mini SUV hits the South African market.
Suzuki has launched the Suzuki Ignis in South Africa with prices starting at R1,69,900 (INR 8,49,613). South Africa gets its Ignis from Maruti Suzuki India's plant in Gurugram which began exports of the car in March with Indonesia.
The Suzuki Ignis is available in two trim levels in South Africa: GL and GLX. Power windows, remote central lock and MP3 player with USB port are standard. Safety features include dual-front airbags, ABS and ISOFIX child seat anchorages. There's 260 litres of boot space, expandable to 469 litres by folding the rear seat.
The South African-spec Suzuki Ignis is powered by the K12M 1.2-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 61 kW (81.77 hp) and 113 Nm of torque. Transmission choices include 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual. The manual transmission model can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 11.6 seconds and reach a top speed of 165 km/h. The AMT model takes 13 seconds to reach from nought to 100 km/h and can further up to 155 km/h. The fuel economy of the Ignis is rated at 19.61 km/l (MT)/20.41 km/l (AMT).

In South Africa, the Suzuki Ignis competes with the Mahindra KUV100, VW Up! and Hyundai Grand i10. A three-year/1,00,000 km warranty is standard, and so is a 2-year/30,000 km service plan.
