Will launch in three variants: 520d, 530i, 530d M-Sport.
BMW India has started conducting private previews of the 2017 BMW 5 Series (G30) to prospective customers in main cities, and in one such event, an IAB reader managed to snap pictures of the car up close.
The model previewed has a dual tone beige and chocolate brown interior with aluminium and gloss black trim. Top-end models like the 530d M-Sport will come equipped with Head-up Display, fully digital instrument cluster, iDrive 6.0 with touch and air gesture support, automatic LED headlamps, 4-zone climate control, rear seat entertainment and BMW Display Key with Remote Park Control. BMW has scooped out some volume to accommodate a space saver underneath the boot floor, leaving 530L for bags.
The new 5-er measures 4,935 mm long, 1,868 mm wide and 1,466 mm high and has a wheelbase of 2,975 mm. It adopts an evolutionary restyling that borrows cues from the current 7-er, while the M-Sport kit for the 530d variant adds a more dynamic look to the executive sedan. A notable upgrade over the previous car is the new CLAR RWD platform, which has helped shave up to 100 kg off the kerb weight.
The India-spec 5-er will launch in three variants: 530i, 520d and 530d M-Sport. The 530i gets a 2.0L 4-cyl turbocharged engine producing 252 hp, the 520d has a 2.0L 4-cyl turbodiesel engine with 190 hp, and the range-topping 530d packs the 3.0l turbodiesel 6-cyl motor with 256 hp. All models will come equipped with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and steering-mounted paddle shifters as standard, which sends power to the rear wheels.
