JLR mulling local production for lower pricing.
Jaguar Land Rover is planning to launch more than ten new products this financial year in India, says a fresh report from Moneycontrol. The development was confirmed by Mr. Rohit Suri, Managing Director and President, Jaguar Land Rover India, who also revealed that two of these new products are completely new models.
The two new products Mr. Suri is referring to are the Range Rover Velar and the all-new Land Rover Discovery. The fifth-gen Land Rover Discovery incorporates the new family design language with a completely new exterior inspired by the Land Rover Discovery Vision Concept. The mid-size premium SUV offers seven full-sized adult seats with ample headroom for even the third-row passengers, thanks to the stepped roofline.
The fifth-gen Land Rover Discovery is underpinned by the aluminium-intensive Premium Lightweight Architecture (PLA) platform of the Range Rover Sport and Range Rover. The redesigned model is available with four engines: 180 PS 2.0-litre Ingenium TD4 diesel, 240 PS 2.0-litre Ingenium SD4 diesel, 258 PS 3.0-litre TDV6 V6 diesel and 340 PS 3.0-litre Si6 V6 petrol. 8-speed automatic transmission and permanent four-wheel drive with standard locking centre differential are standard features.
