Hyundai's flagship SUV to enter its fourth generation next year.

With the third generation Hyundai Santa Fe about to reach the end of its lifecycle, Hyundai is working on the SUV's fourth generation model for a launch in 2018. Months ahead of its arrival, the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe was spotted by Instagram user emiya_mool_jomdao.

The next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe is said to ride on an upgraded version of the current platform, and will offer a plug-in hybrid option.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe's front grille layout and the split headlamp setup with a notably slim upper unit imply that the front fascia will have a layout similar to the Hyundai Kona that debuts this year. The length of the vehicle gives away that this is the three-row version, known as the Grand Santa Fe/Santa Fe XL/Maxcruz.

The interior of the 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe should have bits borrowed from the Hyundai Kona and even the Hyundai Ioniq. It's expected to get the latest in tech, including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, digital instrument cluster and wireless charging, as well as safety systems like Automatic Emergency Braking with Pedestrian Detection, Lane Departure Warning, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and more.

The next-gen Hyundai Santa Fe is said to ride on an upgraded version of the current model's platform. Reports say that along with the familiar petrol and diesel engines, all-new Santa Fe buyers should get a plug-in hybrid option. Drivetrain layout choices should include front-wheel drive and all-wheel drive, with the former offered as standard.

The 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe should hit the South Korean market first, followed by North America and Europe and then other overseas markets. It was reported last year that the five-seater that is sold in India, marketed as the Santa Fe Sport abroad, will be differentiated with a more adventurous look on the new generation.
