2017 Toyota Land Cruiser Prado facelift to launch in Japan this July - Report

The fourth generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was introduced in 2009 and it received a facelift in 2013. According to a new report from Sanko Auto, Toyota plans to give another facelift to the mid-size SUV.

The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will get new styling and enhanced safety with the facelift this year.

The Japanese publication says that the new Toyota Land Cruiser Prado will go on sale in Japan in July 2017. The previous facelift brought several changes to the styling and equipment of the SUV, but it's unknown what all is set to update with the second one. According to the report, Toyota will enhance the safety of the Land Cruiser Prado with the second facelift, besides renewing the exterior yet again with some tweaks.

The 2017 Toyota Land Cruiser will feature Toyota Safety Sense P as standard. The advanced safety package for mid-size vehicles consists of Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection function (PCS w/PD) for vehicle and pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist function (LDA w/SA), Automatic High Beams (AHB) and Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC). Models getting this package get an in-vehicle camera and front-grille-mounted, millimeter-wave radar for enhanced safety and more functionality.

The JDM-spec Toyota Land Cruiser Prado is available with the 1GD-FTV diesel and 2TR-FE petrol engine options. The 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine produces 130 kW (177 PS) at 3,400 rpm and 450 Nm of torque between 1,600 rpm and 2,400 rpm. The 2.7-litre four-cylinder petrol engine delivers 120 kW (163 PS) at 5,200 rpm and 246 Nm of torque at 3,900 rpm. A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard. It's unknown whether any changes to the engines or the transmission are arriving with the facelift this year.
