Confirmed to launch in May.
The 2017 Maruti Dzire will, unsurprisingly, continue retailing through Maruti's regular dealerships and not shift to the NEXA outlets. IAB understands that a few dealerships in the country have begun receiving demo units ahead of its commercial launch next month.
Bookings are being accepted unofficially at dealerships across India. Maruti is expecting to push big numbers right from the beginning, with reports suggesting that it will be priced akin to the current model which ranges from INR 6.16 lakh to 8.57 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). With the new Dzire and their decision to continue selling it via the regular retail chain, Maruti hopes to reinvigorate the sub-4m sedan segment, which is currently facing a decline in demand.
Maruti had dropped a teaser of the new Dzire's profile, which features Maruti's new liquid metal flow design lines observed on the Baleno. It looks like Maruti have tried to make the Dzire more proportionate than the outgoing car, but a final judgement can be made when we see the car up close today.
The 2017 Maruti Dzire will be based on the lighter and more rigid “HEARTECT” lightweight platform, which is expected to help improve the fuel efficiency significantly. The engine lineup will include today's 1.2-litre petrol unit and 1.3-litre diesel units, while a 5-speed manual and 5-speed automated manual would be the transmission options.
