Exterior gets a slight nip and tuck.
Skoda at the ongoing 87th Geneva Motor Show is showcasing the 2017 Skoda Rapid, which received a mild facelift for this year. Note that the model sold in the Europe is quite different from the sedan sold in India.
Positioned between the Fabia and Octavia, the Skoda Rapid and Skoda Rapid Spaceback boast of a compact exterior with great interior space. The new fog lamps are housed in a modifies bumper. A narrow chrome strip connects the two headlamps which are bi-xenon. The daytime running lights use LEDs. A high-beam assistant always ensures optimal illumination of the road. In the dark and at speeds above 37 mph, the sensor detects vehicles ahead (up to a distance of 400 m), as well as on-coming traffic (up to 1,000 m) and dims the lights as appropriate.
The door inlays are new while air vents in the dashboard, instrumentation and the control panel of the manual air-conditioning system have also been redesigned. Safety features include a continuous tyre pressure monitor and ESC as standard. The cars also get fatigue detection and Front Assist, including city emergency braking function. Optional features include integrated cornering light and Hill Climb Assist.
Powertrain options in the new Skoda Rapid and Skoda Rapid Spaceback include a new 1.0-litre TSI petrol mill (95 PS and 110 PS), 1.4-litre TDI (90 PS), 1.6-litre TDI (115 PS). The 1.6-litre TDI in the Skoda Rapid Spaceback produces 116 PS while the Rapid also gets a1.4-litree TSI producing 125 PS.
