The Bajaj Pulsar AS200 was discontinued in favor of the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS.
With the relaunch of the Bajaj Pulsar 200NS, Bajaj Auto silently discontinued the Pulsar AS200. However, in an interview with Autocar Professional, Mr Eric Vas, President, Motorcycle Business, revealed that Bajaj Pulsar AS200 will make a comeback in the future.
Pitched as an adventure tourer, the Bajaj Pulsar AS200 gets a semi-faired body, projector headlamp, 280 mm front and a 230 mm disc in the rear, perimeter frame and tall visor for wind production. Powering the motorcycle is a 199.5 cc single cylinder liquid-cooled mill coupled to a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 23.52 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 18.3 Nm of peak torque at 8,000.
Mr Vas was quoted saying:
The AS 200 needed a lot of work to be done and we are currently completely re-working it. The NS 200 had a big fan following, we brought it back in much better form than ever before. We will bring the AS back also when we are ready. So the Pulsars will keep evolving. I don’t want to say that it will never go beyond 220cc, if we will see a need to put a 300cc, we will do so. But it will only evolve with its customer base.
Bajaj has now re-introduced the 200NS, which nows complies with BSIV emission norms. The bike gains several cosmetic updates but the exhaust system continues to be the same underbelly unit. It also gets Auto Headlamp On (AHO) feature and an underbelly pan.
