The Suzuki GSX-R1000 and the GSX-R1000R were unveiled officially at the Intermot 2016.
Suzuki has announced the prices of their new litre class flagship in the UK. Available in two versions, Suzuki calls it the ‘King of Superbikes’ with a starting price of GBP 13,249 and GBP 16,099 for GSX-R1000 and GSX-R1000R respectively.
At the heart of the motorcycle is a 999.8 cc in-line four cylinder which is capable of producing 202 PS of maximum power at 13,200 rpm and 117.60 Nm of peak torque at 10,800 rpm. Based on their experiences in MotoGP, Suzuki has introduced a Broad Power System which includes intake variable valve timing, electronic throttle body, valve train system and exhaust pressure tuning valve.
The Suzuki GSX-R1000 also gets a new ride by wire system and a redesigned slipper clutch. The traction control utilises 6 sensors and the IMU to control the throttle valve opening to optimise traction in each mode which amount to 10. The lighting is all LED. The motorcycle also gets launch control, bi-directional quickshifter and an auto blipper and cornering ABS.
Suspension duties include Big Piston forks and a matching fork in the rear. The R variant though gets Showa’s Balance Free Fork and Balance Free Cushion shock in the rear.
Deliveries of the Suzuki GSX-R1000 are expected to commence in late March 2017 while the Suzuki GSX-R1000R will be available only from May.
