The Bajaj Dominar 400 is their most powerful motorcycle yet.
Bajaj Auto launched the Bajaj Dominar on December 15, 2017, and started its deliveries in January 2017. In an interview with Money Control, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director, Bajaj Auto, revealed that the company sold 3,000 units of the Dominar 400 in January 2017.
At the heart of the Bajaj Dominar 400 is a 373.3 cc single cylinder DTS-i mill coupled to a six-speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 35 PS of maximum power at 8,000 rpm and 35 Nm of peak torque at 6,500 rpm. The bike also gets optional dual channel ABS and a slipper clutch as standard fitment.
Rajiv Bajaj said:
I can tell you that every single vehicle of the 3,000 we made in January was sold out. Of course at this stage we have a waiting period but that is bound to be the case at this point in the game. We are looking at about 4,000 vehicles this month and we can push production gently but cautiously to about 6,000 next month. However, remember that 6,000 a month is where Royal Enfield was in 2012. So we have caught up quite a bit.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 exports will begin this month, with the bike heading to international markets like Russia, Turkey, South Africa and Peru. Bajaj aims to hit a sales volume of 10,000 Dominars a month which they expect will happen by September with the help of overseas demand.
Bajaj expects the Bajaj Dominar 400 to be a billion dollar brand globally in 12 to 18 months.
