The 2018 Ford Expedition is powered by a new 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.

The fourth-gen Ford Expedition is based on the same platform as the latest Ford F-Series. The traditional SUV has retained the body-on-frame construction, but has adopted aluminum construction for its fourth generation. The redesigned Expedition has an all-new high-strength, aluminum-alloy body and redesigned high-strength steel frame, and thus, is up to 300 pounds lighter than the outgoing model.

Like before, the U.S-spec Ford Expedition continues being offered with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 gasoline engine as standard. However, the unit under the hood of the 4th-gen Expedition is an updated engine. The outgoing model produced 365 hp and 420 lb.-ft. of torque and is paired to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The new engine's figures are yet to be revealed, but Ford has confirmed that it is more powerful and linked to a class-exclusive 10-speed automatic transmission. The fourth-gen Expedition features an all-new Terrain Management System that allows the driver to select from normal, sport, tow/haul, eco, grass/gravel/snow, sand and mud/rut driving modes.

The 2018 Ford Expedition is equipped with a plethora of new connectivity technologies and convenience features. These include wireless charging - a first for a Ford; SYNC 3 infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone integration compatibility; SYNC Connect for remotely connecting with the vehicle using FordPass app to start, lock, unlock and locate the SUV and access its diagnostic information; 12-speaker B&O premium audio system; Panoramic Vista Roof; and four 12-volt power points, six USB chargers and a 110-volt power outlet to let the passengers stay charged and connected on the go.
