HCIL on Friday confirmed that the 2017 Honda City (facelift) will launch in India on February 14. This is the first major facelift for the City (and Honda's best seller) since the current iteration was introduced in 2014.
A week ahead of its launch, a test drive unit of the new Honda City has been spotted at a dealership. The Honda City has been coming under pressure with the wide acceptance of the Maruti Ciaz. Honda's launches in the utility vehicle segment have tanked, and it goes back to older models to temporarily increase the demand and gear it up for new competition.
With the new freshness coming via the facelift, the Honda City is ready to challenge the Maruti Ciaz facelift, the VW Vento Highline Plus, the new Hyundai Verna and the Toyota Vios.
The exterior features new LED headlamps with standard LED DRLs, redesigned chrome grille inspired by the 10th gen Honda Civic, new bumper design, 16-inch diamond cut alloy rims (15-inch alloy rims in middle grades), a sportier rear bumper, LED taillamps and a rear spoiler. The new City will come with an enhanced safety package, Honda said without giving the details.
Talking about the launch of the new Honda City, Mr Yoichiro Ueno, President and CEO, Honda Cars India Ltd. said -
The Honda City has been our most successful model ever since the start of operations in the country. It commands tremendous loyalty among customers and we are extremely excited to add another chapter to the success story of the model with the launch of the new Honda City 2017.
