Update - IAB reader Rajagopalan has spotted the Mahindra KUV100 LHD prototype in Chennai, revealing a new alloy wheel design. Mahindra could roll out the LHD model this year.
Could be considered for export to markets like Turkey.
A Mahindra KUV100 with test plates was photographed by IAB reader Gokulraj in Chennai. Zooming in on the notice placed on the rear windshield, it appears that the model on test is a left-hand drive variant.
With an LHD variant, M&M can explore the market possibilities overseas, such as in Turkey and Hungary. In the latter, Mahindra sells the Mahindra XUV500 and Mahindra Goa Pickup (Scorpio Getaway), so the introduction of the KUV100 is possible. Currently, the only few international markets where the KUV100 is on sale are South Africa, Nepal and Sri Lanka.
The KUV100 is available in petrol and diesel guises. The former is powered by a 1.2-litre G80 petrol engine that produces 82 bhp and 115 Nm of torque, while the latter packs a 1.2-litre D75 diesel unit with 77 bhp and 190 Nm of torque. Both engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission.
