Its appearance in Germany is no indicator of a European foray.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan was seen by BimmerToday reader Stubl in Munich, Germany. The company's China-only vehicle was unveiled at the Guangzhou Auto Show last November and is built by the BMW-Brilliance joint venture.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan sits on the UKL front-wheel-drive platform that is used by all compact BMWs and the MINI family.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan is made exclusively in China, and no concrete launch plans for markets in any other regions, including Europe, have been announced. The minimal camouflage applied only to hide the branding suggests the car has arrived in Germany for nothing more than global testing and validation.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan formed on the UKL front-wheel-drive platform, measures 4,456 mm in length, 1,803 mm in width and 1,446 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,670 mm.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan comes with 1.5- and 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo engines and 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic transmissions.

The BMW 1 Series Sedan is offered in three engine models: 118i, 120i and 125i. The BMW 118i is powered by the 1.5-litre BMW TwinPower Turbo three-cylinder petrol engine, while the BMW 120i and BMW 125i pack the 2.0-litre BMW TwinPower four-cylinder petrol engine in different outputs.

The 1.5-litre engine is paired to a 6-speed manual transmission, while the bigger powerplant gets sends power to the front wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission.

Last year a report said that the 1 Series sedan is under study for the Brazilian market.
