Yamaha R15 v3.0 has been confirmed to get technology and safety upgrades.

An Indonesian Instagram user Soeneeadjie has put up a spy picture of the Yamaha R15 v3.0 which has been internally codenamed Yamaha BG7. The image reveals the design of the taillamp.

A new spy shot reveals the design of the new taillamp for the Yamaha R15 v3.0 which emerges sleeker than the present version.

With the bike expected to go premium, especially with the introduction of upside down forks up front and a VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) the Yamaha R15 v3.0 will be a more potent offering to the newer Honda CBR150R sold in the Indonesian market.

The present version of the 149 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected mill is coupled to a 6 speed gearbox. The engine is capable of producing 17 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. These figures can be expected to be upgraded on the Yamaha R15 v3.0.

Its competition sees the Suzuki GSX-R150 produce 19.17 PS of power and 14 Nm of torque and register a best in class power to weight ratio. The 2016 Honda CBR150R, in turn, produces 17.1 PS of power and 13.7 Nm of torque. The image reveals that the exhaust canister retains the shape of the present day unit. The taillamp is considerably slimmer and its inspiration can be traced to the bigger Yamaha R6.

The indicators though retain the look of the present version and houses a bulb. A grab rail continues to be absent but the tail section appears to have an integrated holding area much like the one in the KTM RC390.
