Yamaha India has silently updated the Yamaha R15 with Automatic Headlamp On (AHO).
As the world waits for a more performance oriented Yamaha R15 v3.0, the Japanese manufacturer has added another feature to the current motorcycle. The Automatic Headlamp On feature, which is now standard, comes at no extra cost on the R15.
The track-focused machine, Yamaha R15 has been more than a brand building exercise. Garnering around 3500 units monthly, the R15 has pushed volumes as well. With a deltabox frame, linked type monocross rear suspension, long aluminium swingarm and disc brake all around, the Yamaha R15 packs several premium features.
As per a government mandate, all new two-wheelers from April 2017 will have to be fitted with AHO as a safety feature. Automatic Headlamp On will help motorcycles be more visible to road users. Hero MotoCorp already has two products featuring AHO, the Hero Splendor iSmart 110 and the new Hero Achiever 150. There has been however no confirmation whether both the R15 v2.0 and R15S get this feature.
Powering the bike is a 149 cc liquid-cooled mill producing 17 PS of maximum power at 8,500 rpm and 15 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm, mated to a 6-speed transmission.
The Yamaha R15 v2.0 has a price tag of INR 1,18,373 while the Yamaha R15S retails at INR 1,15,241 (both ex-showroom, Delhi).
