The Ignis will go on sale in global markets around the same time as the Indian launch.

Showcased in India for the first time at the Auto Expo 2016 as a near-production concept, the Maruti Ignis gets a boxy design paying tribute to not just present products but also the bygone era.

The interior is a fresh take for a Maruti/Suzuki, featuring a new steering wheel, infotainment system (with a floating screen) and new switchgear. SmartPlay system which has support for both Android Auto and Apple Car Play and LED daytime running lamps are features expected to be present in higher variants.

Powering the Maruti Ignis is the familiar 1.2 litre K-series petrol which is capable of producing 84.3 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque. The diesel variant is expected to use the 1.3 litre DDiS mill doing duty in most Maruti cars in India, producing 75 PS of maximum power and 190 Nm of peak torque.
