The BMW G310R is BMW Motorrad’s first product from their joint venture with TVS.
BMW Motorrad recently organised a media ride for journalists in the United States for the BMW G310 R. Here’s what various reviewers think about the TVS-made motorcycle.
A lot of skepticism revolved around the idea of build quality, considering the fact that it is being manufactured in India. The quality control however, has been a class apart and the opinion has been the same anywhere, way ahead of what one expects in a sub USD 5,000 motorcycle. The BMW G310R has a standard seat height of 785 mm and like all Beemers this one too gets adjustable seats as an option.
The powertrain is 313 cc DOHC mill which is capable of producing 34 PS of maximum power at 9,500 rpm and 28 Nm of peak torque at 7,500 rpm. Various reviewers have said that the bike feels at home in cities between 3,000 to 6,000 rpm. That is a point where a surge in power is claimed. Slight vibrations though creep in at around 90 km/h. Handling abilities impressed most folks while the bike was deemed stable at highway speeds.
A few journalists did not like the positioning of front brake lever. The short gearing in the BMW G310R made a lot of people compare it with the KTM Duke 390 and the KYB upside down front forks and rear mono shock have been found to have adequate damping.
The BMW G310R has been officially confirmed to be launched in India in Spring 2017.
