Update - The specification sheet of the Bajaj Dominar 400 has emerged from a dealership, minutes before the motorcycle's launch. The D400's four-valve liquid cooled 373.3 cc DTS-i produces 35 PS and 35 Nm, paired to a 6-speed transmission with a slipper clutch. Its top speed is 148 km/h and it completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 8.23 seconds.
The motorcycle gets dual-channel ABS with 320 mm and 230 mm disc brakes at the front and rear respectively.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 is the most powerful and expensive motorcycle by Bajaj yet.
Bajaj Auto will be launching their most powerful bike later today - the Bajaj Dominar 400. The company has very high expectations from the product, expecting to push an average of 10,000 units per month.
Powered by a 373.3 cc single cylinder, liquid cooled mill sourced from the KTM Duke 390, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is likely to comply to BSIV emission norms. A leaked ARAI filing had earlier revealed that the bike has an output of 35 PS at 8,000 rpm. The numbers are lower than the Duke 390’s figures to keep the fuel efficiency factor under check and bring out a stronger punch in the low range.
The Bajaj Dominar 400 will be the first India-made motorcycle to get LED headlamps. The bike is suspended over telescopic forks up front and a mono shock in the rear. Tyres are sourced from MRF. Dual-channel ABS will be optional, which is another step by Bajaj to keep costs under check.
In a recent interview to an Indian newspaper, Rajiv Bajaj said that if Royal Enfield is a sumo wrestler, the Bajaj Dominar 400 is a heavyweight boxer. Production of the bike began in Bajaj’s Pune facility in Chakan back on November 19, 2016.
