Honda today provided the first official look at the design of its next crossover, the Honda WR-V. The cross variant of the Honda Jazz will world premiere at the 29th edition of the São Paulo International Motor Show, which will take place between 10 and 20 November.

While the lamps, bonnet, fender, wheels and bumper are exclusive to the Honda WR-V, the door skins are taken from the Jazz.

The smallest crossover in the Honda family, the Honda WR-V is the work of the Research and Development team at Honda Cars in Brazil. The small utility vehicle intends to increase the participation of Honda in the crossover market of South America.

Based on the platform of the Honda Jazz, the WR-V gets new front and rear fascias with the symbolic “Solid Wing Face” that has a chrome grille cutting into the headlamps. The design sketch gives away the fact that the WR-V will get aggressive bonnet, headlamp, bumper with skid plate, and fenders, but will keep the Jazz’s door skin. Roof rails and side body cladding complete the Jazz’s transformation into an all-roader. Further, spyshots show the car raised higher off the ground, and hoisted on exclusive alloy wheels.

Expect the Honda WR-V’s interior to be a spruced up version of the Jazz’s.

The Honda WR-V will be the successor to the Honda Fit Twist variant in South America, but will be a new variant elsewhere. The mechanical carriage of the Jazz, with the 1.5L Flex-fuel engine and five-speed manual or automatic CVT, will be packed into the WR-V.

When the WR-V launches in India next year, expect the car to have a 1.5L diesel engine, along with the 1.2L i-VTEC engine.

The WR-V will gun for the cheaper versions of the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster in South America. In India its chief rivals are the Hyundai i20 Active, VW Cross Polo, Toyota Etios Cross, and the Fiat Urban Cross.
