Expected to be launched internationally in 2017.
With the second-gen Audi Q5’s standard variant now on the production line, Audi’s next project for the vehicle is its ‘S’ performance variant due next year. Citing a senior Audi engineer, a new report from Autocar says that the the 2018 Audi SQ5 would be able to oversteer and be more lively to drive compared to the 2017 Audi Q5.
According to the report, the development team is highly focused on the handling aspect of the next-gen Audi SQ5. The senior engineer has told the publication that the all-new SQ5 would provide for a more spirited driving experience compared to the all-new Q5.
The 2018 Audi SQ5 is expected to have steel springs and passive dampers as standard, and with air springs and adaptive dampers as options. Changes will be made to the suspension and the steering software, and dynamic variable steering system and sports differential will also feature among the list of options.
The next-gen Audi SQ5 will be available with a V6 petrol engine or a V6 diesel engine depending on the market. Europe will get the diesel model powered by the 3.0-litre TDI V6 engine. 8-speed tiptronic transmission and the quattro permanent all-wheel drive system should be standard. The petrol model could borrow the 354 PS 3.0-litre TFSI V6 engine from the all-new S5.
