Expected to be launched in Europe by the end of 2016.
The Skoda Kodiaq has made an unofficial online debut just hours ahead of its world premiere in Berlin, Germany today.
The Skoda Kodiaq is the production version of the Skoda VisionS concept that was introduced at the 2016 Geneva Motor Show. Knowing the fact that the production version’s exterior was going to be very close to the concept and with many near-production renderings having surfaced online till date, the Kodiaq’s design and styling comes as no surprise. Skoda’s future crossover/SUV class models will feature a new design language, and the Kodiaq’s the first one of the pool.
The Skoda Kodiaq, at first look, is large and tastefully boxy, and yet, typically European with curves and sharp lines all over it. The distinctive front-end features new butterfly grille flanked by high-set headlights with high-set foglamps just below them and a wide airdam. The profile is characterised with large, squarish fenders and a greenhouse that gets sleeker moving back. At the rear, the taillamps are reminiscent of the Skoda Superb, alongside which the Kodiaq will be positioned. The interior has already been revealed.
The Skoda Kodiaq is underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and will be available in 5- and 7-seat versions. Kodiaq customers will have three TSI petrol and two TDI diesel engine options to choose from and 6-speed manual and DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission choices to select from. It will be introduced in European markets towards the end of 2016 and will reportedly be launched in India in 2017.
