Honda City-based hatchback goes official in China.
The Honda Gienia was unveiled yesterday at the 2016 Chengdu Motor Show and the 5-door hatchback will go on sale in China in mid-October.
The Honda Gienia is the production version version of the Honda Concept B that was introduced at Auto China 2014 (2014 Beijing International Automobile Exhibition). It is underpinned by the same platform as the Honda Griez which is essentially a Chinese iteration of the fourth generation Honda City.
The Honda Gienia measures 4,517 mm in length, 1,705 mm in width and 1,477 mm in height, and has a wheelbase of 2,600 mm. Honda hasn't released powertrain specifications of the car yet, but Chinese reports say that the Gienia will be powered by a 131 hp 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine which could be linked to a 5-speed manual transmission or a continuously variable transmission. The interior has been kept under the covers for now.

The Honda Gienia will be made and sold by Dongfeng-Honda, the same joint venture that manufactures and sells the Griez. It's expected to be priced from around 90,000 yuan (INR 8,96,645.63) in China, possibly the only market which will retail it.
