More people working on fifth-gen model’s interior than ever before.
The fourth generation Renault Clio was introduced four years back at the 2012 Paris Motor Show and given a facelift this year. Now, new details have emerged on the fifth-gen Renault Clio that will debut in 2018.
Speaking to Auto Express, Laurens van den Acker, Renault’s Senior Vice President of corporate design, confirmed that the next-gen Renault Clio will arrive after the next-gen Renault Megane R.S., and will most likely be unveiled at the 2018 Paris Motor Show. The design chief also revealed some information about the all-new model’s design.
Big changes in terms of aesthetics, materials and technology are on the cards. The exterior would be in line with the new family design seen on the Renault Megane.
The outspoken van den Acker said –
Our customers look at the exterior and go “woah” but then they look at the interior and go “Huh?”
He added –
We need to make sure our next interiors live up to the standards of the exterior, we have more people in Renault working on interiors than ever before, and we are pushing a revolution.
The Renault Clio Mk5 will probably be based on the CMF-B platform that starts its service with the fifth generation Nissan Micra debuting at the Paris Motor Show this month. Along with petrol and diesel engines with displacements from 0.9-litre, a mild-hybrid system could also be on offer.
