Global launch later this year.
The 2017 Audi A5 Sportback has been spied testing in Mumbai by Team-BHP forum member R32_GTR. The second generation Audi A5 Coupe premiered in June and is expected to be joined by its redesigned coupe-styled cousin by end of 2016.
With an evolutionary redesign, the second generation Audi A5 Sportback takes on a more angular design. With the 2-door coupe version already official, the design expectation from the Sportback version was quite obvious and has been depicted in near-production rendering many times thus far.
The second generation Audi A5 Sportback will be underpinned by the MLB Evo platform. The redesigned A5 Coupe is up to 60 kg lighter compared to the previous generation model, and similar weight reduction is expected from the redesigned A5 Sportback.

The 2016 Audi A5 Coupe will be offered with two TFSI petrol and three TDI diesel engines with maximum power outputs ranging from 140 kW (190 PS) to 210 kW (286 PS). The 2017 Audi A5 Sportback is expected to be offered with the same TFSI petrol and TDI diesel engines. These engines should be made available with 6-speed manual, 7-speed S tronic and 8-speed tiptronic transmissions. Quattro all-wheel drive system would be available on some engine models.
