Market launch scheduled for August 23.
Proton have announced that bookings for the next generation 2016 Proton Persona are being accepted from today, ahead of its market launch scheduled for August 23. To attract more buyers, the company is offering a three-year free service package (inclusive of parts and labour) for bookings made before September 30.
Under the hood is a 1.6-litre VVT petrol engine from Proton Iriz. It produces 107 hp at 5,750 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm. It is equipped with a 5-speed manual transmission as standard in the base variant, while a continuously variable transmission (CVT) is also available.
The 2016 Proton Persona will be available in Malaysia in four trim levels at launch: Standard, Executive, Premium and Premium SE. As standard, it features a single-DIN multimedia system, rear foglamps, dual airbags, Variable Stability Control and Isofix seats.

The Executive trim adds 60:40 split-folding rear seats, double-DIN multimedia system and two USB charging ports, while the top-end Premium gets leather-wrapped seats and steering wheel, keyless entry, touchscreen infotainment system, reverse camera and six airbags. The Premium SE carries over the features of the Premium trim, and adds a two-tone body kit.
